MINOT, ND- The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs will have 7 players representing them in this year’s Expedition League All-Star Game. They will also send another to represent them in the All-Star Home Run Derby.

Infielders Mason Dinesen and Chauncey Callier, outfielders Phillip Childs and Crews Taylor, and pitchers Zavian Caldwell, George Loxtercamp, and Bradley Spooner have be chosen to represent the Sabre Dogs in the All-Star Game this coming Tuesday, July 16th. In addition, infielder Bo McClintock will represent the Sabre Dogs in the 2019 All-Star Home Run Derby taking place the night before, July 15th.

Dinesen makes the All-Star team this year after narrowly missing out in 2018. Dinesen has justified his selection with a .287 batting average with 39 hits, 4 home runs, 14 runs batted in and 27 runs scored. He has also been a defensive ace for the Sabre Dogs with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Callier makes the All-Star team for the 2nd year in a row after making it in 2018. Callier ranks among the best hitters, currently standing 3rd in the league with a .385 batting average, 2nd in hits with 62, 3rd in runs scored with 40, 5th in RBIs with 31, and 7th in home runs with 6. He’s also shown off his speed on the bases, leading the league in stolen bases with 25.

Childs has proven to be a menace for opposing defenses since his arrival to Minot. He currently sits 5th in the league in batting at .343 and 4th in stolen bases with 17. Childs has also recorded 35 hits, 13 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Since day 1, Taylor has continued to prove to be one of the best hitters in the league. He currently has a .306 batting average, 45 hits, a team high 7 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 35 runs scored. Taylor has also done his part defensively with 65 putouts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Caldwell makes the team having been one of the most consistent pitchers in the league, producing quality start after quality start. He currently has started 8 games for the Dogs, netting a 4-3 record with 42.2 innings pitched, 39 strikeouts, and a 2.95 ERA. Caldwell has won his last 3 starts, allowing no more than 2 runs in each of them.

Spooner’s selection comes as no surprise, as he has easily been the most dominant pitcher in the league this year. He has split his time between being a starter and reliever, appearing in 10 games across 38.2 innings pitched. Spooner owns a perfect 4-0 record with a league leading 0.93 ERA, 45 strikeouts and even 4 saves. He’s also tossed 2 complete game shutouts, including a no-hitter in his last start on July 5th.

Loxtercamp has been a pitcher the Dogs have relied on in every situation, and he hasn’t disappointed. Across 44.1 innings pitched, Loxtercamp has recorded a 3.45 ERA with 34 strikeouts. He has proven to be an excellent starter as well with a 2-1 record. In each win, he has tossed a complete game with the latest being a shutout.

McClintock will serve as the Sabre Dogs’ representative in this year’s All-Star Home Run Derby, and it’s easy to see why. In addition to being an tremendous physical specimen, McClintock has been a consistent power threat in the Dogs’ lineup with 5 home runs this season, each more towering and impressive than the last. He also owns a .333 batting average, 25 hits, 25 RBIs, and 24 runs scored.

The Home Run Derby will take place during the Visit Minot All-Star Fan Fest on Monday, July 15th. The Fan Fest will start at 6 PM with the Home Run Derby starting at 7 PM. The 2019 EL All-Star Game presented by Farmers Union Insurance will be held Tuesday, July 16th. Gates will open at 6 PM with first pitch at 7:05 PM.
