MINOT, ND- The Sabre Dogs were able to regroup Monday night after a disappointing outing on Sunday. They won 4-2 against the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks.
Things could have not gone much better for Marcello Terrazas in his Sabre Dogs debut. He is the first Sabre Dog to complete eight innings this season. He did so with six strikeouts, no walks, three hits, and two earned runs. Both of the earned runs were in the top of the eighth inning which tied the game at the time. Luckily for Terrazas, his teammates had his back as they were able to get two runs in the bottom of the eighth with a deep ball from Crews Taylor.
When asked about having run support Terrazas said, “It was great. I was finally able to breathe again. I didn’t want that no decision, and I really didn’t want that ‘L’, but I’m just really happy that we came out with a win.”
Jace Mapston closed the door with his team-leading fourth save of the year. It wasn’t as sexy as his two-strikeout save Saturday, but he didn’t allow a walk, hit, or run in the ninth inning.
The Sabre Dogs are on the road until their next home game on June 25th against the same Whiskey Jacks team. First pitch tomorrow in Brandon, Manitoba against the Whiskey Jacks will be at 7:05 p.m.
