Learn: If the Moon Were Only 1 Pixel – A tediously accurate map of the solar system

Pixels are the  foundational ingredient on the screen you’re reading right now. Your computer tells them which color to render, and then magically, you get a beautiful display that’s easy to see and understand. Change their color quickly, and we can set the screen in motion so the appearance of action and movement takes place.

But because they’re consistent in size, pixels can also be used as a unit of measure. Relatively speaking, what if the moon were the size of one pixel on your computer screen? How far would you have to scroll to get from the Sun to Earth? You don’t have to wonder any more.

Follow this link to get a pixel-size perspective on the vastness of our solar system.
