MINOT, ND- Corbett Field was the host of the 2019 Expedition League All Star which was quite the fun game filled with solid hitting and great offense. The Lewis Division came out on top with a final score of 6-3.
The Clark Division wasted no time as on the first pitch, Western Nebraska shortstop Zack Peterson turned one on Sabre Dogs pitcher Bradley Spooner to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. This would set the tone of the game as there was plenty of offense from both teams, but all of the offense for the Clark Division came via the long ball. Peterson would hit another one out in the sixth inning, and his teammate Cole Gambill got one in the fourth.
As for the Lewis Division, The Sabre Dogs came to the rescue in the bottom of the third. Mason Dinesen reached on an error, which set up Crews Taylor who proceeded to hit an RBI triple to make it 1-1. Taylor would then be brought home by Bryson Ford of the Badlands Big Sticks to take a 2-1 lead. The fourth inning is what made the difference in the game as Hub City Hotshots starting third baseman Jake Anderson hit a two-RBI single to give the Lewis Division a 4-3 lead. They wouldn’t be done as they got two more in the bottom of the seventh, and the Clark was unable to recover. Marcelo Terrazas of the Sabre Dogs shut down the Clark Division in the top of the ninth with no hits, no runs, and a walk.
