PIONEERS HOLD OFF SABRE DOGS, COMPLETE FOUR-GAME SWEEP

GERING, NE- The Sabre Dogs got their first lead of the series, but it didn’t last long as the Western Nebraska Pioneers were able to come back with seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings to win 9-4.

For the first three games, the Sabre Dogs struggled in the early innings, but Sunday night, they were able to get an early lead. In the second inning, Nick Mistone scored on an error to make it 1-0. In the top of the fourth, the Sabre Dogs were able to add to their lead with a sacrifice fly from Drew Pollum. After giving up a run in the fourth and another one in the fifth, the Sabre Dogs were able to get the lead back in the top of the sixth. Jase Edwards got an RBI single, followed by an RBI groundout by Nick Mistone. With the Sabre Dogs up 4-2, they then gave up seven unanswered runs to give the Pioneers a five-run lead and the four-game series sweep.

The Sabre Dogs travel to Fremont to take on the Moo on Monday at 6:35 p.m.
