SABRE DOGS CAN’T ESCAPE DOMINANT PITCHING

MINOT, ND- The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs drop their fourth game in their last five tries as their record falls to 6-8 after a 7-3 loss to the Fremont Moo Saturday night.

The Sabre Dogs knew it would be a long night from the start, as they allowed three runs in the top of the first. They were able to answer with a run of their own, but little did they know that it would be their only run for the next two hours. The Moo were then able to score three more in the second and third innings, which sealed the Sabre Dogs fate Saturday night. They were able to score two more in the eighth, but it was too little too late.

Phillip Childs now has two games with three hits this season as he was able to go 3-for-4 in the leadoff spot. In four games, he is now batting .361 after tonight’s stellar performance.

Crews Taylor was the second of two Sabre Dogs who were able to get more than one hit. Taylor went 2-for-2 with a run scored and two hit-by-pitches.

The bullpen was sturdy after the fourth inning for the Sabre Dogs as they only allowed one run. George Loxtercamp had four solid innings with five strikeouts and one earned run. Cody Waters, who started Wednesday against the Badlands Big Sticks, came in for one inning of relief and didn’t allow a walk, a hit, or a run. Backhus then finished things with a two-strikeout, one walk, no-hit, scoreless inning in the top of the ninth. The Sabre Dogs will attempt to win the series tomorrow. First pitch at Corbett field is at 5:35 p.m.
