FREMONT, NE- After 24 runs in the last two games by the Fremont Moo, it was expected for it to be another shootout on Wednesday night. However, both teams brought their A-game on the mound as the Moo were able to best the Sabre Dogs with the final score of 3-2. The Moo completed the series sweep and handed the Sabre Dogs their seventh loss in a row.
Hitting was scarce in this one. The Sabre Dogs, for the second straight game, were able to score a run in the top of the first with a sac-fly from Crews Taylor to bring home Phillip Childs. In the third, Taylor got his second sac-fly to bring in Childs again. The Moo responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead, and the Sabre Dogs were unable to recover.
Tyler Courtney started for the Sabre Dogs and went seven innings in his fourth start of the season. He pitched well, but picked up the loss after giving up ten hits, one walk, and just three earned runs. The only reliever needed for the Dogs was Sam Powers. In his pitching debut for the team, he went an inning and only surrendered one hit.
The Sabre Dogs will try for their first win since the All-Star break Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. against the Hastings Sodbusters.
