SABRE DOGS FALL SHORT IN LOW-SCORING DUEL WITH IN-STATE RIVALS

MINOT, ND- It was the final time the Badlands Big Sticks and Souris Valley Sabre Dogs would meet in the regular season in a possible divisional round preview in which the Big Sticks prevailed with a final score of 4-3.

Marcelo Terrazas started for the Sabre Dogs and pitched masterfully. He had his second eight-inning start of the season as he gave up just three hits and didn’t walk anyone.

The Sabre Dogs started the scoring in the bottom of the first with an RBI sac-fly from Josh Paino to make it 1-0. After that, they wouldn’t get another run until the sixth inning when they got a solo-shot from Bo McClintock to tie the game 2-2. With the score tied in the top of the ninth, the Badlands rested their fate on their best player Conner VanCleave, and he disappoint. He hit a two-run laser over the right field fence to give the Big Sticks a 4-2 lead. The Sabre Dogs had one last chance, but they fell short after an RBI sac-fly from Justin Henle.

The Hub City Hotshots will roll into town tomorrow night with the first of a two-game series starting Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
