MINOT, ND- A 10-5 victory from the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs over the Pierre Trappers guaranteed them at least a series win. The Sabre Dogs have now won five straight after an overall impressive performance.
Braden Henle got his first start of the season, and he didn’t disappoint. He went five innings and didn’t allow a single hit until the fifth inning. Unfortunately, he left the game with the Dogs down by one, but the offense would respond in a big way. They came back with a seven-run bottom of the sixth to give the Sabre Dogs a 10-4 lead. Cody Waters pitched his final innings of his baseball career, and he pitched wonderfully. He went for three-and-a-third innings, got the win, and only allowed a walk with no runs. After he was pulled from the game with one out in the ninth inning, all of his Sabre Dogs teammates embraced him after a season well-done.
The standout on offense was Drew Pollum, playing in his alternate position in the outfield. He finished a home run away from the cycle, driving in 3 runs and scoring twice himself.
The Sabre Dogs will go for the series sweep and their sixth in a row Sunday evening with first pitch at 5:35 p.m.
