ABERDEEN, SD- The Sabre Dogs were unable to complete a comeback Tuesday night as they lost 11-9 to the Hub City Hotshots.
The pitching and defense struggled in this one with two errors and eleven runs allowed. Chase Grillo pitched well in his two innings of work. He had four strikeouts and got out of a bases loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the seventh.
As for the hitting, they found themselves down 10-4 after the fifth inning, and they were up to the challenge. The Sabre Dogs then went deep three times in the remainder of the game. Mason Dinesen hit the first deep ball in the top of the fifth before they trailed, Bo McClintock hit a two-run bomb in the sixth, and Alex Hay hit a three-run homer in the seventh to make it a one run game. Unfortunately, the comeback ran out of steam, and the Sabre Dogs fell short. Souris Valley is still first in the Lewis Division, but they have the Western Nebraska Pioneers on the schedule after this series finishes. The Sabre Dogs will try to win the series Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
