HASTINGS, NE- After a comeback win Thursday night, the Sabre Dogs were unable to follow that up on Friday as they lost to the Hastings Sodbusters 9-1.
Chauncey Callier was, unfortunately, the only bright spot on the Sabre Dogs’ offense. He finished his day 3-for-4. Souris Valley was unable to get a run batted in, and the only Sabre Dog to score was Mason Dinesen.
The Sabre Dogs’ starting pitcher was Nathaniel Brezner-Mendoza. In his fifth start of the season, he went four innings surrendering six earned runs, six hits, and four walks while striking out three batters. Braden Henle made his fourth appearance out of the bullpen, and went three innings giving up two walks, two runs, and five hits. In the eighth inning, the Sabre Dogs went with Sam Powers for the second time this season, and the second time in the last three days. He didn’t allow a run, but gave up a walk and a hit.
The Sabre Dogs will go for the series win Saturday night with an off day on Sunday looming over the horizon. First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m.
