SABRE DOGS RELIEF PITCHING HOLDS OFF HOTSHOTS LATE-GAME SURGE, WIN 4-3

ABERDEEN, SD- The Sabre Dogs proved that Sunday’s loss was just a fluke as they rebounded to win 4-3 against the Hub City Hotshots Monday night.

Zavian Caldwell started for the Sabre Dogs, and he pitched masterfully. He didn’t allow a single run and struck out seven batters in six innings while giving up just three walks and five hits. He got the win which improved his record to 4-2 on the year. The relief pitching made the game interesting and allowed the Hotshots back into the game, but Caden Kealber was able to get the save after allowing the third run in the bottom of the ninth and striking out the final batter.

The bats were good enough as they got all their production in the top of the sixth. Alex Hay’s two RBI double was the difference in the game that expanded their two-run lead to 4-0. He finished the day 1-for-4 with a run with the two RBI. This was a crucial regroup game for the Sabre Dogs. They lost their first game in over two weeks Sunday night, and it was crucial that they didn’t let that loss snowball into a losing streak. They came out with a solid performance that wasn’t the sexiest, but it got the job done. They will go for the series win Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m.
