MINOT, ND- The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs finished off the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks with a season-high 17 runs and 20 hits. Everyone got involved in the action Thursday night. Every Sabre Dog got a base hit, and the Sabre Dogs went through a season-high seven pitchers.

The Sabre Dogs didn’t waste any time and scored in the first inning for the third game in a row. Thursday, it was a solo shot by Crews Taylor that led things off for the Dogs. After giving a run back in the top of the fourth, the Sabre Dogs got three runs in the bottom of the fourth to get a 4-1 lead. 

The Whiskey Jacks would respond with two more runs to make it 4-3 in the fifth, but Chauncey Callier wouldn’t be denied and went yard with a solo shot to make it 5-3. 

The Sabre Dogs got a season-high eight runs in the eighth inning, and held on to their ten-run lead in the ninth. Seven of the nine Sabre Dogs hitters ended up with multiple hits Thursday, and everyone had at least one run and an RBI. Luke Quick went 3-for-6 with an RBI double, a run, and a stolen base. 

Chauncey Callier had the team’s fourth four-hit game of the season as he finished 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, a double, and a solo home run. He ended up just a triple shy of the cycle. Crews Taylor was also just a double away from the cycle. He finished 3-for-5 with two RBI, a triple, and a solo shot.

George Loxtercamp got the start and pitched well. He went five innings and struck out six hitters while giving up two walks, five hits, and three earned runs. The relievers then gave up just four runs amongst six pitchers which was good enough for the Sabre Dogs to get the win.

The Sabre Dogs next game is Saturday, June 29th, against the Hub City Hotshots. Gates open at 6:00
p.m. and first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
