SABRE DOGS WIN, 6-0, IN SEVEN INNINGS AFTER LONG LIGHTNING DELAY

MINOT, ND- The Sabre Dogs were credited with the 6-0 win over the Hub City Hotshots Wednesday night after the game was canceled due to lightning after the top of the seventh.

Jace Mapston made his second start on the mound this season, and pitched extremely well. He picked up a complete game shutout as he went seven innings with six strikeouts and just one walk.

As for the offense, Philip Childs had another one of those games where he was just feeling it. For the third straight game, he led off with a hit and a run in the first inning. He finished 3-for-3 with three runs and two steals.

An RBI groundout by Mason Dinesen gave the Dogs the first run of the game, and they wouldn’t stop there. Crews Taylor hit a 2-run bomb in the third after Phillip Childs scored on an error. The Sabre Dogs determined to get more as they were able to get an RBI double from Mason Dinesen, and an RBI single by Josh Paino in the fifth. The Sabre Dogs have won consecutive games for the first time since the All-Star break, and they will play the Pierre Trappers in a four-game series to determine who gets the second playoff spot in the Lewis Division. With Wednesday’s win, the Sabre Dogs are a half game up on the Trappers going into the series. First pitch on Thursday is at 7:05 p.m.
