Shooting at Ryder bar leaves two dead, public not at risk

A shooting last night in Ryder has left two men dead. The full news release from the Ward County Sheriff’s Department is below.

— Official News Release, Ward County Sheriff’s Department —

On Thursday night May 16, 2019 at approximately 10:15 pm, Ward County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a gun shots call at the Ryder Star Bar in Ryder ND. The initial report was that a male had been shot and the suspect had left the bar. When a Deputy arrived, he located a male on the ground next to a parked car with an apparent gunshot wound that was deceased. The deputy was then flagged down by witnesses in the bar that indicated the victim was inside the bar. A second male was then located in the bar, with an apparent gunshot wound and was also deceased. It has been determined that the male referred to in the 911 call as the suspect was the deceased male outside. There is currently no known suspect at large and the public is not in any danger in reference to this incident. The names of the individuals involved are not being released at this time pending the notification of family. The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released when it is available and appropriate.
