MINOT, ND- The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs needed a win after a tough loss to the Badlands Big Sticks on Monday night, and they got it. It was another low-scoring battle as the Sabre Dogs were able to hold off the Hub City Hotshots with a final score of 3-2.
For the second straight night, the Dogs were able to score a run in the first inning as Crews Taylor brought home Phillip Childs with an RBI double. After the Sabre Dogs gave up a run, they were able to get their second run in the third with an RBI single by Josh Paino. Another run was given up by the Sabre Dogs in the top of the eighth which tied the game at 2-2. In the bottom of the ninth, Paino and Bo McClintock both got beaned to start the inning. After a groundout and an intentional walk, the Sabre Dogs looked to end the game with a sac-fly. However, a wild pitch brought home Josh Paino from third which ended the game.
Cody Waters got the start, and it was his best one of the year. He went for seven innings and struck out six with only one walk and one earned run.
The Hotshots and Sabre Dogs will play each other for the last time this season Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m.
