Minot area people are adjusting to the parking meters newly installed in the business district of Minot, and the parking violation tags handed out by the local police force are dropping in total daily number from the 75 a day which were given the first several days. The police department is having trouble with several of the meters into which gum and slugs have been forced. The glass on several meters has been broken. No arrests have been made yet for this form of vandalism.

Why We Chose It
Two days ago and 15 years earlier in this column we were just getting acquainted with 1-hour parking laws. And now we having parking meters that we have to figure out. Our parking management practices were evolving right on schedule until a few years later when the voters preempted local control and eliminated parking meters via an initiated measure. And that’s when North Dakota fully embraced socialized parking.
