Why We Chose It
We take this votes mostly for granted these days … the only other periodical typically on the ballot besides the Minot Daily News is the Kenmare News. But it’s an impactful vote for a publication on the business side of the ledger. Being the “official newspaper” means the place where official notices must be published, and that’s a revenue source that matters now more than ever in keeping newspapers afloat. But the writing is on the wall, the tide is ebbing, if the local news business is going to stay viable, it’s going to need to chart a course with even this once reliable revenue source diminishing.
