I was much impressed with the appearance of our new State Capitol building. It is even more beautiful on the inside than it is from the outside. I won’t attempt any description of the splendid 17-story structure, but feel certain that with the two corner stones laying that it had, it ought to stand longer than any of the present residents of North Dakota will live. The imposing looking corridors, the black marble imported from Belgium, the commodious offices with fine working conditions, the elevators that carry you to the top of the building in a jiffy, affording the fine view of the beautiful city of Bismarck and surrounding territory, all make a visit to the new Capitol most enjoyable.

Why We Chose It
North Dakota’s capitol building does not get the credit it deserves as both architecture of its time and the symbolism of how it sits on the prairie landscape. The editors of it’s early era new better though.
