Saskatchewan supports study for new Ontario-Alberta pipeline

Saskatchewan is throwing its weight behind a proposed Alberta-Ontario pipeline, framing it as vital for getting Prairie resources to global markets. The plan, still in the feasibility stage, aims to link provinces through new pipelines, rail lines, and possibly a port on James Bay — boosting trade and reducing reliance on U.S. infrastructure. But Manitoba’s absence from the agreement, citing the need for Indigenous consensus, is seen as a major hurdle. Supporters say the project could protect jobs, grow the economy, and strengthen Canada’s energy security.
