Regina Dives Into Geothermal Energy for New Aquatic Centre
In Regina, a long-discussed idea is finally becoming reality: using geothermal heat to power the city’s new indoor aquatic centre. Engineers will drill two wells more than two kilometers deep into the Deadwood aquifer, where naturally heated water will be pumped up, cycled through a heat exchanger, and returned underground. The system, common in parts of Europe, will replace traditional boilers with a steady, reliable source of energy—one rooted in Regina’s own geology and decades of local research.
