Pointing out that the sale of liquor without a license, and in an establishment where food is sold, constitutes a violation of state law and city ordinance, Nedrud asks that the operators of the Parrot Inn be enjoined from such alleged unlawful liquor sales, and asks further that no alcoholic beverages be permitted on the premises, for any purpose, pending a determination of the matter on its merits.

Why We Chose It
The Parrot Inn and it’s proprietor D.D. Govan were infamous “High Third” fixtures, and this action against the place in 1956 signaled that the era was coming to an end and that the winds of law enforcement had changed… the protections of indifference and slack enforcement were slipping away. A few years after this the Jaycees would take up the clean up in earnest and one of Minot’s most colorful eras would come to an end.
