Burgum assumes control over American Prairie grazing cases
A long-running dispute over grazing rights in north-central Montana has landed on the desk of the U.S. interior secretary. Doug Burgum has stepped in to take direct control of three appeals involving American Prairie’s bison grazing on federal land, cases that have been winding through the Bureau of Land Management for more than three years. The move follows pressure from Montana’s top elected officials and comes amid ongoing debate over conservation grazing, agricultural use, and how public lands should be managed.
