New rules against election disinformation among bills set to pass in Manitoba

Manitoba lawmakers wrapped up their legislative session with a flurry of bills that touch on some of the biggest political tensions of the moment — from election integrity to housing to taxes. One headline measure targets election disinformation, including AI-generated deepfakes, with fines of up to $20,000 a day. Other bills clamp down on the sale of publicly funded social housing and rewrite income tax rules in ways the Opposition says will hit earners over time.
