Officer Kimball was ordered to the home of Mr. McHenry in this city Saturday morning to quarantine the residence. Several members of the family have bad cases of small pox. There are quite a number of cases of small pox in the city and a good deal in the country . . . One young man who had the disease grew weary of staying at home and attended the country balls, peppering everyone.

Why We Chose It
Some in our day gnash their teeth at the idea of a vaccine. It invites comparison to a time when public health was such a severe concern that the government was empowered to keep people from leaving their homes.
