The second annual convention of the Northwestern North Dakota Development Association was held in this city Tuesday. The organization appeals to the legislature to appropriate $100,000 for the coming biennial period for advertising the state for immigration purposes, and asks the county commissioners to have counties furnish booklets for their respective districts to be used in advertising the resources of North Dakota elsewhere.

We’ll follow-up if the we find the appropriation was granted. But the ask by itself is worth noting. It’s a sign that the business of building Northwest North Dakota wasn’t free. And when the railroads set down the work, they left it to us to pick it up.
