The city garbage collection service provided in the residential districts six months a year was suspended Thursday. In accordance with the plan put into effect last year, the city provides a collection service from May 1 to Nov. 1, said City Manager Jay W. Bliss. During the winter months it will be necessary for residents to make their own arrangements for disposition of garbage.

Why We Chose It

Government sets policies and people react. And though this was a time with a lot less plastic, packaging, and spending on useless junk, it's hard to imagine this policy didn't have consequences come spring time.
