Why We Chose It
The concern over wayward youth is nothing new. Long before social media and video games became the scapegoats of modern times, communities wrestled with how to keep their young people engaged, disciplined, and out of trouble. In Minot, decades ago, the challenge was the same—how to create a space where teenagers could channel their energy into something productive rather than mischief. The answer, they believed, lay in a community-driven youth recreation program.
And they did it. The question we have today — was it enough? Do we owe the effort our own contribution with what we’ve learned?
