During the present year, more than $450,000 worth of buildings have been erected in Minot, a record equalled by no other city in North Dakota. These figures were furnished the Independent by O. H. Moon, city building inspector. This figure does not include the $125,000 federal building which was completed early in the summer, the valuation being included in last year’s building operations. Mr. Moon believes that by the end of the year $500,000 worth of buildings will have been completed in Minot, a remarkable showing. This record will beat that of a year ago.

The general attitude of the citizenship toward the place — of both Minot, and North Dakota — was wildly different at this moment in our history. We did not think of our place as being second to any, and we acted accordingly. Perhaps that was part of the magic of this moment.
