By the time the Independent goes to press, it is expected that 1,000 soldiers released by the army for harvest work, will have arrived in Minot, to be billeted on the fairgrounds, just south of the exposition building. They are a part of 15,000 soldiers released temporarily from the army, upon request of Gov. John Moses, to work in the harvest fields for the three weeks throughout the state where they will be needed the most. They are here under the direction of Maj. Gen. Frederick Uhl commanding general of the Seventh Corps service command of Omaha.

Why We Chose It
