On This Day | Slowing Down The Highway
Author
Josh Wolsky
The Minot city council has ordered the blinker lights on US 83 moved from 11 ave SW to 14 ave SW to stop through traffic on the highway when school children are passing across the highway. The 11 ave crossing was little used, because 11 ave does not go across the highway but ends there. The 14 ave crossing leads from the school area on the east side of the highway to the large residential area on the west side of the highway.

Why We Chose It
Minot ends a few miles further South today, but it used to end at Starbucks. And maybe the kids didn't walk uphill both ways to school, but they definitely have to cross a highway. We wouldn't stand for that today.
