A creamery man was stricken speechless by gratitude. Watching a transient trying to get a fire started over which to boil a pot of coffee one cold windy day, the creamery man supplied dry wood for the fire and some buttermilk. A few days later the transient reappeared with a sack of wheat. He had laboriously scraped it up from the ground along the railroad track where the grain had fallen in loading. The grain was in payment for the kindling wood and the milk that the creamery man had given him, the transient explained.
