The matter of settling the location of the site for the Minot normal school was not entirely closed Tuesday, when the board met in rather stormy session. Governor Burke was here and appeared before the board as a private citizen. He said that he was not there to intimidate any of the members, but he considered that in locating the school on the South hill, where there would be no chance of securing a water supply, the board was making a mistake.

Why We Chose It
Locating what later became Minot State University was not a simple matter. But in the end, the valley won out, and perhaps we have Governor Burke to thank for that.
