A major breakthrough in Parkinson’s research may have come from an unexpected angle—cancer treatment. Scientists have found that two brain proteins, Aplp1 and Lag3, work together to help spread the toxic clumps that drive Parkinson’s. But when mice were treated with a cancer drug targeting Lag3, the spread nearly stopped. The implications are big: a treatment for Parkinson’s could already be sitting on the shelf.
