As Wisconsin’s hemp industry blooms, will marijuana be next?

As North Dakota farmer’s get beat up by the near-term fallout of our international trade negotiations, is there more we can be doing to help them out? What about deregulating a long vilified crop?

The North Dakota legislature has taken positive steps toward opening the door to hemp in recent years; that’s a good thing. But is there more we can do? Check out this article from WisconsinWatch.org on the emergence of a growing industry.

And is it fair to ask how long we’ll be in pilot-program mode here in North Dakota? If we want the crop to thrive, we need to have the economic clusters that support it as well. There’s an industry waiting patiently to grow; are we doing enough to get out of its way?
