Sunday closing law repeal petition expected to circulate soon

A Fargo business owner who thinks it’s time to make North Dakota’s Sunday opening restrictions a part of the state’s past has plans to move the issue directly to the voters through the initiated measure process. The issue was taken up in the last legislative session and failed to pass in a narrow vote.

Read John Hageman’s coverage of the issue on the Dickinson Press here.

Quick Commentary: Here on The Minot Voice, I took a strong position on the issue. With a local government and flood protection infrastructure funding plan that is heavily reliant on sales tax revenue, I’m not sure it’s wise to be hypocritical about when we allow retail operations to operate. Especially when there already so many exclusions from the law.
