Carson Wentz needs shoulder surgery, Vikings place him on injured reserve
Carson Wentz’s short run in purple has come to a painful end for the 2025 season. The veteran quarterback, who battled through a serious shoulder injury in last week’s lopsided loss to the Chargers, has been placed on injured reserve and will undergo surgery on his left shoulder. Head coach Kevin O’Connell said Wentz insisted on finishing the game despite the pain, but now the Vikings will have to regroup with J.J. McCarthy and rookie Max Brosmer as their only healthy quarterbacks on the roster.
