“Here We Go Again”

my own mother fought this
Great Depression and WW2
right here a few miles down the hill
while Dad caught mortar shells in his teeth
and bounced bullets off his eye balls
to send the Nazis back to hell

always amazed
always wondering how
we can know how profound
some symbol is when
we dare deal with the remains
of another part of human culture

and so I song sing the blues
as I know them to be in my little
piece of the planet
and hope to wish you well and
not insult you when
it is hard work to play this way

but I know it is what the
Minstrels of Bone Town do:
this is why we are so
prone to crazed restless fingers
