Kitchen Fire Displaces Family in Minot, Pets Lost

A kitchen fire displaced a family in northwest Minot on the evening of Friday, April 11. The Minot Fire Department responded to the incident at 618 14th St. NW at 8:57 p.m.

Firefighters from Station 5 arrived at the scene at 9 p.m., just three minutes after being dispatched, and observed smoke coming from the front of the home. Crews quickly deployed a handline while Station 3 began searching for family pets reportedly trapped inside.

The fire was swiftly brought under control, and search and rescue operations continued until all pets were accounted for. Three cats were rescued, but three dogs and one cat did not survive. Fire and Trinity First Response crews attempted resuscitation but were unable to revive the four deceased animals.

All five Minot fire stations responded to the call and successfully contained the fire to the room where it originated. Despite this, the home sustained significant fire and smoke damage.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
