Fargo in a Fight to Keep Adult Store Out of Downtown

It’s playing out at the speed of government, but it’s a fight nonetheless. The issue is Romantix deals in “adult” retail, and they’ve been trying to move into a new location in downtown Fargo. The City of Fargo changed laws to keep them out. And now it’s in court.

It matters in Minot because we’ve fought a similar fight in the past and questions of free speech and commerce are always worthy topics. It’s also a demonstration of the challenges that come with regulating certain businesses away. Commerce has a way of getting around regulations.
