Manitoba announces Holocaust curriculum strengthened through partnership
In a time when divisions seem sharper than ever, Manitoba is choosing a different path — one rooted in remembrance and education. Starting in 2025, the province will make Holocaust education mandatory for students in grades 6, 9, and 11, strengthening its social studies curriculum through a partnership with the Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada. Leaders hope that by teaching young people about the horrors of the past, they will help protect the future values of diversity, inclusion, and human rights that define the province.
