The biggest boon that any city in North Dakota could get at the present time is cheap light and cheap fuel. Minot will never be much of a manufacturing city until the cost of living has been reduced. Build factories here or in any other North Dakota city and it would be hard to pay men the wages that they would have to have. We have the coal and the raw materials and some day ought to get the factories. Give Minot gas for heating and lighting purposes and watch our old town grow. If the Association of Commerce could be instrumental in establishing a gas plant here, then its services would be well worth all that they have cost our citizens, and then some.

And the Chamber is still working to solve this shortfall. Also, entrepreneurial seeds were scattered widely across the prairie as were “dream” developments that never came to fruition.
