Minot aldermen Monday night denied the application of William Pfaffengut for licenses to sell beer and operate a dance hall. Twice the aldermen have taken Pfaffengut’s liquor license away from him and they are not disposed to let him operate any such public places again. Pfaffengut recently had a fine brick building built for him on the site of his former Point tavern.

Why We Chose It

“A fine brick building,” but no business to put in it. Perhaps Mr. Pfaffengut earned his result, perhaps it was an early instance of Minot’s liquor license policy stifling business. Perhaps it’s both. What’s absolutely for sure, we don’t hear of a lot “Pfaffengut” names around Minot these days and that’s a name we’d remember 🙂
