Paddlefest returns to Riverbank with a message: Protect our waters from AIS
Kayaks, canoes, and community spirit will fill the Assiniboine River this weekend as the Riverbank Discovery Centre hosts its second annual Paddlefest. Beyond the fun, organizers are using the event to highlight an urgent message: protecting Manitoba’s waters from invasive species like zebra mussels and spiny water fleas. With “clean, drain, dry” as the golden rule, paddlers are being asked to make stewardship part of their routine — a small step to ensure the province’s rivers and lakes stay healthy for generations.
