Tree planting event aims to prepare landfill for future park
This fall, Steinbach’s landfill is taking its first steps toward becoming a future park — with the help of volunteers and a few hundred trees. On October 5, TD Tree Days will bring community members together to plant 300 saplings, laying the groundwork for shade, wildlife habitat, and clean air long after the landfill is decommissioned. Organizers say no experience is needed, just a willingness to pitch in. It’s a chance to turn today’s work into tomorrow’s green space. Judy Peters with Steinbach Online has the full story.
