Company selected to lay groundwork for nuclear power in North Dakota
North Dakota is taking its first real steps toward exploring nuclear power, and the job will be led by a Canadian firm with expertise in small modular reactors. Nucleon Energy has been tapped to study whether nuclear could be part of the state’s energy future, a process that will weigh potential sites, public support, and the long path to federal approval. The study comes as utilities nationwide search for stable, carbon-free power sources—and as communities weigh the promises and challenges of nuclear energy.
