Minot Woman Arrested After Burglary, Found Wearing Victim’s Shoes

A Minot woman was arrested Friday after allegedly breaking into a northeast Minot home and stealing cash, jewelry, and a pair of mismatched shoes.

Police responded to the burglary around 12:28 p.m. on August 2 after the resident reported being awoken by an unknown woman in his bedroom. The suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Winona E. Keplin, fled the scene wearing the stolen shoes.

Officers located Keplin during a welfare check about 90 minutes later. She was still wearing the shoes and had additional property from the residence. Keplin told officers she believed the home was abandoned.

She was arrested for burglary, a Class C felony, and transported to the Ward County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
