North Dakota hits highest number of West Nile cases since 2019
North Dakota is grappling with its highest West Nile virus surge since 2019, reporting 78 cases so far this year. Health officials say a wet summer created the worst mosquito conditions in two decades, fueling infections across the state. While most cases are mild or go undetected, more than 30 people have been hospitalized and several developed serious complications. With warm September weather keeping mosquito season alive, residents are being urged to take extra precautions to limit the spread.
