Second B-21 will fly by year’s end, Sentinel Program Pivoting to New Silos
The U.S. military’s nuclear modernization push is advancing on two fronts. A second B-21 Raider bomber is expected to fly before year’s end, marking progress toward building up to 100 of the stealth aircraft—and possibly more. At the same time, the Sentinel missile program is being reshaped after costs soared to $141 billion. The Air Force now plans to dig hundreds of new silos rather than retrofit old ones, a move leaders say will ultimately save time and money as the U.S. overhauls its nuclear arsenal.
