For more than two weeks, St. Paul has been operating without its full network after a ransomware attack forced the city offline. Officials refused to pay the ransom and say there’s no evidence of stolen data, but the disruption has been costly, affecting services from online utility payments to public Wi-Fi. Now, through “Operation Secure St. Paul,” crews are manually resetting thousands of employee passwords in a sweeping system reboot — a final step before slowly bringing critical systems back online later this week.
